TROLLING RODS Trolling rods range from light actioned rods that will allow you to catch normal sized fish but still have a bit of sport bringing them in you. don't want to be over gunned and just drag them in, you then move up to medium actioned rods that will troll Divers and lead core and other heavier pulling bits of hardware. The Med and Light actioned rods will do most of your trolling needs and the longer 9ft+ Med Heavy actioned rods will troll Divers and large Pike sized like Depthraiders and will also double up as great Deadbaiting rods for use in the boat. The Rods we stock are a Graphite and Glass composite, pure Graphite rods are great for casting with but will not stand up to Trolling. Graphite rods have been known to shatter when a fish hits. *Flat rate postage of £2.50 on rods*
Daiwa Wilderness Rods a new range of trolling
rods made from Fibreglass that gives a softer action but still has plenty of
power to handle big fish. Fibreglass rod are tougher and can handle more abuse
than Graphite rods they will stand up to being knocked about in the boat
and the general treatment that trolling rods can get. Fibreglass rods cost less than Graphite so it is a win win situation great rods at a cheaper price and that cant be bad.
Diawa Firewolf Great Lakes trolling rods, 2 rods that cover most situations a 8"6" Downrigger rod and a 9"6" Dipsy rod. The Dipsy rod can be used for Leadcore as well as trolling with Dipsy divers, Dipsy rods should be soft in the tip but have strength lower down to cope with the stress of pulling a Dipsy all day long. The Downrigger rod is a Med/light action that will handle big fish but will still give sport with "normal" sized Scottish fish. Both rods have Hyperlon handles to stand up with the wear and tear of being used Downrigger and Dipsy rod holders
New for 2008 Okuma 9ft Mooching Rod A 9ft long 2 pc Mooching rod this rod has a soft actioned tip to allow to "Mouth" the bait when fishing Herrings in the Mooching style, but it has plenty of power further down the rod that will allow you to fight and land big fish. The line class for the rod is 10/25 and lure weight of ½ to 3oz This rod will be great for trolling Deadbaits or large lures it will also double up as a Deadbaiting rod for use in boats where a long rod can be a handicap. Price£31.50
Okuma Classic Pro Rod This rod is an 8ft med action rod used for planer board fishing the length is ideal for reaching up to take the board off the line, it has a trigger grip on the handle that I find great when you have cold and wet hands. It would also make a good rod for fishing in the "Poker " position as its compact but has a bit of power in it, the line rating is for 8 to 20lb class lines. The Okuma rods are used on Great Lakes Charter boats and see more action and fish in a week than we will ever see in a lifetime, they are tough rods and can stand a bit of abuse.
Shimano FX rods a 7ftMed action Rod line class 8-17lb a great little rod for planer board use, short enough to quickly reach up and remove the board, also a good rod for using with the Mini divers. A great little rod at a fantastic price.
The TDR Trolling series are a mainstay rod, for use with downriggers or any saltwater situations that call for durable, flexible fiberglass rods. The TDRs have proven themselves over and over again. These classic rods are popular both on the coasts and on the Great Lakes.
